Sculpture of a Face

Picture
The objective of this project was to create a life like face using the proportion notes we took in class. We used clay so that we could mold the face any way we wanted to. We had to create the face in the same way that we could draw a face. We had to measure where each facial feature would go and how big it had to be. After we let the clay dry, we painted the facial features so that it would look more life like. My inspiration for the hair was Elvis Presley. Making a face out of clay was something i had never done before.

I had a lot of fun creating this face. I liked making the eyes the most. It was the most elaborate part of the whole face. At time it was hard to get the features the way that i wanted but it was fun to figure out how to get precision. It was an interesting project to do because it was a new experience and i liked the end result.

Life Map

Picture
This project was a project that had to do more with our personal lives. We had to create a map of our life that showed the most important aspects of it. We had to include elements from our past, present and what we want our future to be like. We basically had to map out our life. Almost every form had to represent something about ourselves. It had to represent something personal. The symbols had to be something that you could not guess the meaning at first sight unless you knew the person. This project was a very personal project

I had a lot of fun doing this project. I liked it mainly because it forced me to think about what i wanted my future to be like. I also brought back many memories from the past that i had not remembered in a while. The project also made me appreciate my present like my friends. I think that it was also fun to do because i had to make up symbols that really said something about me. I was able to discover more about myself and rediscover some things that i had forgotten.

Betwixt

Picture
The photo is of a sketch from my notebook. Sketches are made to be done daily so that we can practice our art and see that art is everywhere. We can do the sketches based on almost anything we want. What inspires us is what we draw. A sketch helps us express what we are feeling at the moment or our dreams or anything we want to fulfill. Our art notebook can become like a diary, filled with drawings of our wishes and our inspirations.

I drew these various dragon flys based on a book called Betwixt. I saw the cover and thought that that dragon fly was one of the prettiest i had ever seen, and it wasn't because of the colors (not colorful at all) that i thought it was pretty, but because of the context it was drawn. You see any other dragon fly in a visual representation and it is colorful and full of life and represented in sort of a stereotypical way. I thought that the fact that these dragon flys were so not full of life and so not stereotypical, was beautiful. The dragon flys are given a different feel to them in the book and cover and that is what caught my eye.
